Pick the United States or your part of the UK and the 2027 holidays fill in on their own. Untick the ones you stay open, add your own days off, the days you work and the hours, and download it as a PDF.
If a company closure already counts as vacation, enter only the days each person takes on top. In the UK, if your 28 days of leave include the bank holidays, enter only the days left after them.
Holidays: OPM federal holidays (US) and GOV.UK bank holidays (UK).
The Office of Personnel Management publishes the dates federal employees get off. When a holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed on the Friday before, and when it falls on a Sunday, on the Monday after. In 2027 that moves three of them.
| Date observed | Holiday |
|---|---|
| Friday, January 1 | New Year's Day |
| Monday, January 18 | Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. |
| Monday, February 15 | Washington's Birthday (Presidents' Day) |
| Monday, May 31 | Memorial Day |
| Friday, June 18 | Juneteenth (observed) |
| Monday, July 5 | Independence Day (observed) |
| Monday, September 6 | Labor Day |
| Monday, October 11 | Columbus Day |
| Thursday, November 11 | Veterans Day |
| Thursday, November 25 | Thanksgiving Day |
| Friday, December 24 | Christmas Day (observed) |
Juneteenth (June 19) falls on a Saturday, Independence Day (July 4) on a Sunday and Christmas Day (December 25) on a Saturday. January 1, 2028 is also a Saturday, so New Year's Day 2028 is observed on Friday, December 31, 2027. Weekdays left in 2027 with all eleven off: 250.
Each part of the UK has its own list on GOV.UK. In 2027 Christmas Day falls on a Saturday and Boxing Day on a Sunday, so everyone gets the substitute days on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.

In the United States, the Department of Labor is clear: the Fair Labor Standards Act does not require payment for time not worked, such as vacations or holidays. Paid holidays are a matter of agreement between employer and employee. That is why the calendar lets you untick the federal holidays you stay open and add your own, such as a state holiday or a floating holiday.
In the United Kingdom, there is no statutory right to time off on bank holidays either. What the law does give almost every worker is 5.6 weeks of paid holiday a year: 28 days for someone who works five days a week. The employer can include the bank holidays in those 28 days or give them on top, and the contract should say which.
Either way, a calendar on the wall with the days the business is open and closed saves a lot of questions, and makes it easy to plan rotas and holiday requests.
2027 has 261 weekdays. A US business that closes on all eleven federal holidays works 250 days. At 40 hours a week, that is 8 hours a day and 2,000 hours in the year.
In England and Wales, with all eight bank holidays off, there are 253 working days. At 37.5 hours a week (7.5 a day) that is 1,897.5 hours. If the 28 days of statutory leave include the bank holidays, each person still has 20 days of holiday left: 233 days and 1,747.5 hours of work.
That last figure is the one to compare with the hours in your contracts. In the UK, the Working Time Regulations limit the working week to an average of 48 hours, normally over 17 weeks, unless the worker opts out.
In the US, the FLSA requires employers to keep records of the hours worked each workday and each workweek by non-exempt employees, and to keep payroll records for at least three years (29 CFR Part 516).
In the UK, employers have to keep records that show they comply with the 48-hour limit, and keep them for two years.
Spreadsheets and paper sign-in sheets are easy to get wrong and hard to check. A time clock app records when each person starts and finishes, and adds up the hours for you.
Eleven. Three of them move because they fall on a weekend: Juneteenth is observed on Friday, June 18, Independence Day on Monday, July 5, and Christmas Day on Friday, December 24. Also, because January 1, 2028 is a Saturday, New Year's Day 2028 is observed on Friday, December 31, 2027.
No. The Fair Labor Standards Act does not require payment for time not worked, such as vacations or holidays, federal or otherwise. Paid holidays are a matter of agreement between employer and employee, so each business decides which ones it closes on.
Eight in England and Wales, nine in Scotland and ten in Northern Ireland. Christmas Day falls on a Saturday and Boxing Day on a Sunday, so the substitute days are Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.
There is no statutory right to time off on bank holidays. Almost all workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday a year, which is 28 days for a five-day week, and the employer can choose to include bank holidays in that entitlement or give them on top.
2027 has 261 weekdays (Monday to Friday). Taking off the federal holidays that fall on weekdays leaves 250 in the United States, or 249 if you also close on December 31. With the 2027 bank holidays, England and Wales have 253, Scotland 252 and Northern Ireland 251.
